A Walk Through The Milwaukee

The right hillside home comes with an amazing view of the valley below you and plenty of places from which you can enjoy that view. The Milwaukee is no exception here. The front of this home gives you several great spots to enjoy the sparkling lights of the city below you at night, and the clear blue sky above you during the day.

Start by sitting out on the front deck, which gives you both sun and shade options. Pull up a chair in front of the great room’s picture windows to enjoy the warmth of sunlight, or retreat to the alcove in front of the dining room with a book to sit in the shade and spend the afternoon relaxing.

As the weather turns chilly, the great room welcomes you with a toasty fireplace and the same wonderful view through a massive wall of windows. Invite your friends over and let them be impressed by the scenery that you get to enjoy each day.

If you’d like to really wow your guests, put the Milwaukee’s kitchen to work preparing them a gourmet feast. The wraparound design, spacious island and walk-in pantry gives you all of the space and convenience you need to create culinary masterpieces. Host your guests in the dining room so that they can look out onto the valley below your home as they enjoy the spread you’ve set before them.

Once dinner is done, take everyone downstairs and treat them to the games room. It’s up to you how when it comes to putting this room to use. Perhaps you and your friends like to play cards, or maybe you are a movie buff that has always wanted a home theater. Either way, this room gives you a chance to include friends in your favorite pastimes.

Once they’ve seen everything that your home has to offer them, your friends won’t be able to stay away. Your home will be the one where they’ll want to spend their weekends, and with two bedrooms and a full bath in the upper floor’s loft, you’ll be able to accommodate them. Each morning, they’ll wake up and be treated to the sumptuous view into the great room and out through the floor-to-ceiling windows. With this home’s ample master suite — complete with a walk-in closet and bath featuring both a tub and shower, you’ll be well rested enough to treat your guests to the coming day’s fun.

Will This Design Work For Your Location?

All house plans licensed by Alan Mascord Design Associates Inc are designed and detailed to conform to The International Residential Code (for orders out of state), or Oregon and Washington local state codes (for orders in those states). We typically calculate and provide sizing of beams for a snowload of 25 psf. You may need beams sized to accommodate larger roof loads specific to your region. We are able to help with this; please speak with our sales staff to discuss your options.

To find out exactly what details you should expect with your Mascord house plans, see "What's included in a Plan Set?"

Some regions have additional engineering requirements, such as earthquake-prone areas of California and the Pacific Northwest, or the Gulf, Florida, & Carolina coasts that are frequented by hurricanes. Additional Wind and Seismic engineering drawings are required to accompany your home plans to obtain a building permit in most areas. These additional drawings need to be provided and stamped by a professional licensed in your state. In most cases we have working relationships established with engineers who can help you obtain the necessary drawings cost effectively, or you are welcome to source your own local engineer.

Your area may have specific energy codes that have to be followed. Compliance could include filling out forms providing evidence that your construction drawings meet requirements. In many cases the forms are simple and can be filled out by yourself, or with the aid of your General Contractor.

Building jurisdictions in several states - including California, New York, New Jersey, Nevada and Illinois - require that your home design is reviewed and entire construction drawings stamped by a local professional. If you are building in such an area, it is most likely you will need to hire a state licensed structural engineer to analyze the design and provide additional drawings and calculations required by your local building department.

In addition to the construction drawings, you may also need a site plan that shows where the house is going to be located on your chosen property, along with any grading and water management / septic system requirements.

If you aren’t sure what may be required, contact your building department and ask for a list of all of the items they require to submit for and obtain a building permit.

Although we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of our design information, we reserve the right to make corrections on our floor plans or elevations as needed.
