Both elements are detectable upon approach: the exterior use of cedar shingles and stone screams “Craftsman!” while the angled shape of the garage and entry suggest the luxurious spaciousness of western lodges.
As we imagine taking a tour of this grand home, we begin at the façade. On the right: three garage bays, with double bracketed dormers above. On the left: a double-gable roof over the columned covered porch entry. Entering The Halstad Craftsman home plans, we find ourselves in a foyer with 10-foot ceilings. A walkway to the right leads to the master bedroom, tucked in seclusion behind the garage; the master bath features plenty of built-in storage, a separate spa tub and shower, and twin sinks backing a large walk-through closet. Throughout this elegant master suite, high ceilings provide a sense of airiness. Wandering back through the hall to the foyer, you notice that it is open to the above level, and you spy a staircase leading to the upper bedrooms and bonus room.
On this second level we discover two bedrooms with charming dormer windows, a shared bath, and a spacious bonus room that could easily serve as office, play room, or second-story lounge.
We’ll conclude our tour of this luxurious set of Craftsman house plans by touring the home’s stunning shared spaces: the vaulted great room, rear covered porch, central dining room, and kitchen with windows onto the side yard. As one often finds it modern house plans’ “family triangle,” the dining room, kitchen, and great room are open, facilitating flow. Walls of windows off the great room and dining room accentuate the sense of spaciousness in this area.
A few details distinguish this common space from the typical floor plan. First, a cedar trellis off the great room minimizes energy costs. A fireplace in this room is surrounded by built-in storage and a media center. A door off the rectangular dining room leads to the covered back porch. The kitchen’s large island offers informal counter-level dining on one side and a sink with plenty of counter space on the other. Our tour of this ground floor concludes with an exploration of the large walk-in pantry, just off the kitchen, and a front office with built-in storage and desk space.
The Halstad craftsman home plan boasts elegant columns throughout the main floor. As we meander back to the front entry, you imagine your family relaxing in this lavish home, discovering more delightful design details as the years wind on.
