This week’s featured home, the Hayword, takes advantage of this architectural aphorism – indeed, the house plan’s major feature is a vaulted great room that is naturally filled with light streaming from a wall of gorgeous windows. Let’s take a tour of these two-bedroom, two-bath home plans, which are perfect for first-time homeowners and empty nesters alike.
When viewed from overhead, the Hayword house plan is square in shape. Approaching the front façade, you’ll see a couple of offset rooms on the left and a garage on the right. Entering through the covered front porch, you’ll find a den with a built-in closet or desk on the left. Beyond the den on the left, you’ll notice a hallway running to the bedroom and guest bath. Guests will certainly appreciate the privacy this separate hallway affords. A coat closet is conveniently placed around the corner, just a few steps from the front door. The front foyer feels spacious with 9-foot ceilings and delivers you to the heart of the Hayword house plans – the vaulted great room. Wrapping around to the right is the open dining and kitchen area. A roofed back patio beckons just off the dining room. The kitchen has plenty of counter space and even includes a built-in desk. A pantry and utility room are located off the kitchen; a door from the garage opens up into the utility space for a washer and dryer.
Walking back through the house, you’ll appreciate how no spaces feel cramped, yet the design allows for the utility and pantry to be separate from everything else. The short hallways found throughout the Hayword serve to dampen sound. And the fact that everything is located on one level is excellent for those who would like a home they can comfortably grow old in.
Before concluding our tour of the Hayword home plans, let’s discuss the luxurious master suite. A niche off the great room leads to the master bedroom, with its three tall windows. A door off this bedroom leads to the bathtub and side-by-side sinks. A wall partition separates the shower area; across from the shower is a small room just for the toilet. Beyond this area, you’ll see a large walk-in closet.
All in all, the Hayword home plans have a Craftsman flair with a contemporary approach to modern design. If you’re looking for a house plan that will deliver comfort and style, the Hayword might just be your dream home. For similar plans take a look at our cottage house plans.
