Like the best ranch house plans from the cattle ranches of years gone by, this home’s windows are designed to offer stunning views from nearly every room. Whether you’re looking for a home to maximize your vacation home’s gorgeous natural setting, or you’re hoping to play up your city lot’s skyline views, The Abbeywood is a great choice. Let’s imagine walking through this lovely home.
A huge three car garage juts out to the left as you approach The Abbeywood; the main living area of the home is situated straight ahead, to create a sense of protection upon entry. A covered front porch leads into a foyer/mudroom with 9-foot ceilings. This space seamlessly leads one forward, into the vaulted great room, with its built-in storage, fireplace, and media center to the left. Once your breath has been taken away by this striking shared space, you decide to wander back to the entry and explore the rooms to the right, namely the office and the master suite. The sunny office boasts a whole corner of windows. And the master bedroom is also filled with natural light, thanks to a wall of windows overlooking the backyard. The large master bath has both a spa bath and a spacious L-shaped shower. Twin sinks, a separate room for the toilet, a linen closet, and a generous walk-in closet round out the master suite.
Walking across the great room you soon find yourself in the dining room, which is separated from the great room only by a large overhead beam. The dining room’s patio door leads to a charming covered back porch. On the other side of the dining room sits a wet bar. A kitchen island with bar seating on one side delineates the kitchen area from the dining room. The U-shaped kitchen brags plenty of natural light over the main work areas; the sink looks out onto the back porch.
Connecting the dining room back to the foyer is a small hallway, which includes a pantry, a utility room and coat closet leading to the garage, and a half bath. Directly to the left of the foyer is the stairs to the upper story, which we decide to explore next.
The 537-square-foot upper story contains an unfinished storage room and a large bonus room over the garage. Two bedrooms are located above the dining room/kitchen area. Each bedroom is compact, but cozy thanks to a dormer window in each.
The Abbeywood combines the elegance of the Craftsman style with the practicality of ranch home plans. And yet it is so spacious and well laid out that living in it feels like living in a lodge. If you’d like to feel like you’ve just started a vacation upon arriving home, The Abbeywood is the ideal home plan for you.
